Specialist ECU Remapping For Agricultural Equipment

Remapping your agricultural equipment is the most cost-efficient route to improved performance. By making a series of carefully calibrated tweaks to the software that controls your equipment’s engine, we can unlock previously untapped reserves of torque and power.

This process boosts efficiency by enabling your agricultural equipment to complete jobs faster, pull larger implements, and move between fields in less time. In many cases, we can also fine-tune characteristics like injection pressure and timing to improve fuel efficiency by between 5% and 15%.

The industry’s leading experts, we’ve spent the last 10 years pioneering safe and reliable agricultural remapping services for farmers all over the globe. We now have hand-written maps for the overwhelming majority of agricultural vehicles available on today’s market.

This includes custom-coded and field-proven maps for most makes and models of tractor, combine harvester, forage harvester, sprayer, skid steer, telehandler and loader.

Our approach to remapping is exacting and methodical. Backed up by an industry-leading R&D process, our engineers will take the time needed to understand your requirements, and study the impact of any changes on your equipment. We also ensure that a customer’s original map is backed up on our servers, should they need to quickly revert to the manufacturer’s default map.

How Does Agricultural Remapping Work?

Although the approach is fairly involved, agricultural remapping is a structured and logical process that we’ve perfected over more than a decade. In simple terms, your equipment’s engine is managed by a computer called an ECU that uses a database of values to regulate the way your engine responds to various inputs.

We adjust key values to make subtle changes to your ECU’s behaviour. For example, we may adjust your injection timing or pressure to increase low-end torque, or widen your power band to make power delivery more linear and improve the overall tractability of your machinery.

We remap all agricultural equipment

Assuming that your ECU isn’t locked and your equipment is in good condition, we can develop an improved map for almost any diesel-powered agricultural machinery. Since 2014, we’ve worked with landowners, farmers and agricultural contractors to enhance the performance of tractors, combine harvesters, foragers, sprayers, skid steers, telehandlers and loaders.

The installation of our industry-leading remaps is carried out by our global network of highly-trained and approved agents, supported from our UK headquarters in the South West of England.

Tractor Remapping

Because brands rely on modular manufacturing, modern tractors often roll out of the factory with a suboptimal map because the same power train has been used across a range of different models. As an example, the New Holland T6.175 Tier 4A shares its 6.7-litre engine with the entire t7 range, suggesting that it has the potential to produce similar power to the T7.250.

This doesn't necessarily mean that all engines should be pushed to the limit, because there could be a mismatch between the engine power and the running gear. But what it does do is provide specialist ECU remappers with enough capacity to significantly improve the performance of many tractor engines.

The benefits of ECU remapping are very much dependent on both the equipment and the required application. However, most tractor remaps increase torque and power, improve drivability and boost fuel economy.

Combine Harvester Remapping

A combine harvester has a unique range of demands put on its powertrain. From the simple act of forward motion, through to providing the power required by the straw chopper or unloading auger.

Remapping can fine-tune the engine's power output and torque characteristics to better suit specific field conditions and crop types. By optimising the harvester's operation, remapping can increase operational and fuel efficiency.

A remap will also allow the harvester to adapt more effectively to different crops, field sizes, and harvest conditions, maximising performance. If your combine harvester is underperforming, before replacing it, it’s worth investigating the benefits of an ECU remap. You may already own the combine harvester you need.

Forage Harvester Remapping

When it comes to forage harvesters, increased power equals increased throughput and with such a time-critical operation this can make the difference between making profit and getting the crops in or missing the all-important weather window.

As with combine harvesters forage harvesters generally have very large capacity engines because of the power required by these units. This means there are plenty of opportunities for an ECU remap to introduce efficiencies or increased power if required.

The only caveat is that because forage harvesters are pushed to the limit on a daily basis, remaps must respect the limitations of both the engine and the drivetrain. When remapping forage harvesters, we take great care to ensure that remaps are sympathetic to the specifics of a machine, and don’t sacrifice reliability.

Sprayer Remapping

Although operational efficiency is paramount for sprayers, it’s often the case that self-propelled sprayers spend a significant amount of time on normal roads. Simply remapping for operational efficiency could result in an increase in the amount of time and fuel required to move the equipment from one area of the farm to another.

Therefore our customised remaps can be tailored to the specific requirements of specific farms and their unique topography.

As with all of our agricultural remaps, we take the time to discuss your specific requirements and where you operate all of your equipment in order to make sure the Remaps we deliver are right for your business.

Skid Steer, Telehandler & Loader Remapping

Other agricultural vehicles that we frequently remap include skid steers, telehandlers and loaders. Here again, the focus is on balancing performance and efficiency. For example, skilled operatives can often manoeuvre the machinery while lifting the boom or bucket etc.

Stripe Image - Agricultural Tuning & Remapping

However, moving the machines whilst activating the hydraulic system for the boom puts a lot of load on the engine, and an underpowered engine will struggle – frustrating the operator - and possibly causing a slow down in operations. Our remaps can provide additional torque or horsepower, solving this problem.

We can also remap skid steer, telehandler and loader engines to improve fuel efficiency and reduce running costs. For our team of industry-leading engineers, the focus is on making sure that your machinery performs according to your individual requirements.
